well...switched my blogskin. i'm pleased to announce that this is my first blogskin starting from scratch. well...not exactly from scratch lah. i 'stole' and adapted some codes from some other people on blogskins.com. but, i'm ok with this skin. still got some work to do on it tho. we'll see how.
(edited a few hours later...)
yay! i'm more or less done with the basic structure of my new blogskin. :D :D :D of course, it still needs some beautifying lah. but i'll handle that later on. for now, this is it. ta-dah! the (kind of)finished product. lol!

alrighty. finally decided to sit down and do an update. here goes. warning about a lot of crap and more crap.
watched "pirates of the caribbean" on wednesday with duan hui. omg!!!! it's so cool!!!!!! the bloody critics are SO wrong about that film. it was 2 and 1/2 hrs long but it did not feel like that. i was totally like glued to the screen. loved it. it's really such a brainless entertainment flick. spoilers ahead. missed the first 5 minutes cos girlfriend was late. :p so i have no idea what led up to jack being thrown into the ocean in a coffin. but, it was cool. norrington looks so different. i prefer him in the first show. will and elizabeth, the less said, the better. never liked them anyway. i like that new character, the one that plays the role of an oracle. don't know who she is, but she's an interesting character. and what's with the undead monkey anyway?! well, i'll admit that the storyline was a little crazy. but, heck. who cares about the story line anyway. movies like these, you go in to be entertained. full action from front to end. oh ya, the only part i think i could like about elizabeth is when she handcuffed jack to the black pearl. lol! davey jones is ok. bit unbelieveable. i mean, how did ordinary looking people whom he pressed into his service for a hundred years, start growing barnacles on their cheeks, or look like a hammerhead shark? there were it's funny moments, that were really hilarious. there were moments when the audience was screaming also. but, i don't know what was so scary. gives you a shock lah, when the character turns round and suddenly there's something behind it, but i don't think it warrents a full fledged scream. i'm proud to say that duan hui was not one of those who screamed out loud. and i don't think the end part was that much of a cliffhanger. i mean, it was a pleasant surprise that barbosa reappeared, reunited with his darling monkey and apple. :D but, i think, it was an ok ending. it closed off this part of the movie and effectively links it to the next sequel. so, ya, i was satisfied with the ending.
just one thing that spoilt the movie for me, at least the front part. apart from missing the first five minutes that is. there was this group of students next to me, eating something that was deep fried. oh. my. god. the smell stank sia! imagine the smell of stale grease. oh god! the movie was already dizzifying enough, what with them rolling around in that ball-cage. that smell really made me wanna throw up. had to lean way over to duan hui's side to escape the smell as much as possible. thank god, they finished eating somewhere half way through the movie and canned the smell. geez. someone from the theatre should enforce the rule about food in the theatres. deep fried oil smell in the middle of the theatre is NOT a pleasant experience.
moving on. clay aiken's new cd. rumoured date september 19. and it's kinda confirmed september liao. yay! can't wait for it to come out. the title is also confirmed. ATDW - A Thousand Different Ways. cool. theo sent me his blog the other day. he had just finished a photoshoot for ATDW. apparently it had something to do with indoor waterfalls, backdrop of LA city and frank sinatra. supposed to created a romantic atmosphere cos the new cd apparently is gonna include a collection of love songs. *g* anyway, a studio version of 1000 days was found on limewire. and of course claynation went wild. i think it was ok. i preferred the concert version, cos there's more feeling in it. but anyway, clay found out about it. and he commented about it on his blog. under the "listening to" section, he says he's listening to "a bad bootleg copy of 1000 days". cute. if that's a bad copy, i wonder what a good copy sounds like. counting down the days. i should try calculating. has it been 1000 days since MOAM?
talking about clay reminds me. if you are scarlett/scarlett120 who commented in my earlier post, can you PLEASE leave a contact email or something. i can't find you on CB and i'm not a member of the rest. would like to talk things out with you. thanks.
wanted to mention. the other day, baby's birthday, me and bro were looking for barney pictures online to make her a 'card'. and we came across lots of anti-barney sites. the one we looked at was the wikipedia entry. lol at the anti-barney songs. sample: "i love you, you love me, homosexuality". my favourite adjusted version, "with a shoot shoot bang bang, barney on the floor, no more purple dinosaur." muahahahahahaha! poor barney.
and school choir has started. back to the horrific late nights, reaching home at 11 plus. geez. i really have to adjust my timetable to have a late start to tuesday and friday. anyway, choir was ok. not the full choir tho. practicing for the FIC and workshop now. quite easy lah since most of the songs already sung during commencement. i'm liking "sigulempong" more and more. of course, ppl still have this annoying habit of starting to trickle in at 6.45 when practice is supposed to start at 6.30. you'd think by uni level ppl would have grown out of that bad habit.
learnt a new song last night. called "night and day". it's kinda a weird song, alto part on its own. but when you combine. woah! apparently it has a "tea for two" feeling to it. funny incident. we were all doing ok, until the back part. adyll was just playing on the keyboard, letting us try and sight sing. UNTIL we came to the part of the phrase, "till you let me spend my life making love to you", we all just cut and trailed into silence. this goes to prove. my generation is NOT becoming overly liberal. we just stopped there and giggled. geez. and the worse part is that part has a kinda irregular rhythm (wrt to the words) so we had to do it over and over and over again. lol. and it's for the workshop. don't they know there are small kids present?! should PG13 the song. haha!
have to prepare my timetable for next sem. i'm missing one module. i'm really really really really annoyed with nus, especially the maths dept. why? cos the maths dept didn't release the schedules for their tutorials and lab sessions making me unable to plan my timetable properly because i can't just blindly guess at what time those are. and so, it's being very difficult to grab another module cos i don't want it to clash with maths. sigh. AND, you know all that crap about the govt and the speak mandarin campaign? guess what. nus does not allow me to take chinese because i didn't score a B4 for my AO level chinese. what nonsense? i want to take chinese so that i can fulfil my requirements for asian studies. i'm not all that interested in studying about south east asia, or india, or japan. for once, i want to take chinese. and i can't. all those years of taking chinese for granted...
i don't know what's wrong with singapore english mediacorp these days. why can they not produce anything of substance? why is it that the only things they CAN do properly is pathetically lame slapstick comedies and food shows? i watched the first episode of "maggie and me". geez. how stupid can they get? i got the feeling that they're trying to copy "the ghost whisperer". the only thing i can say is, at least TGW has some class. english tv is going down the drain these days. singapore's standards have fallen so far, don't know if it's still worth redeeming. miss those old days when tv had some substance. eg, "growing up" (before the mother died), "under one roof", "war diary". even PCK used to be not bad. but now. M&M, ABC DJ, what da hell?!
i saw a bit of sg idol on tv mobile the other day. god. why do ppl delude themselves like that? the bit i saw was the ones on number 1 hits. the one that was most memorable was that girl who sang "there you'll be". grrr. i wanted to just slap her. who da hell let her through?! she totally slaughtered the song. and she's so obviously acting. what's with the crap about, oh, christina's my idol because she's so true to herself and i hope i can be like that too? puke. the others were only marginally better than her. (she didn't get eliminated, btw) so far as i've seen, the only one with a bit of standard is jonathan leong. mum absolutely loves him btw. keeps nagging me cos he's in nus, saying, oh you should get him to join the choir, try and pull him into st stephens. words cannot express my disgust. btw, interesting tidbit, to watch jonathan leong more, mum has discovered the joys of youtube. anyway. i think the judges are crappy too. is it just me? maybe i'm comparing them too much with AI. suddenly i really like simon cowell with all his straight talking, no bullshitting comments. the sg idol wannabes needs someone to tell them straight out, you slaughtered the song, what the hell are you singing, you suck. instead of all the sugar coating, oh, you weren't up to standard today, you could do better next time. i'm so evil. they should fire florence and hire mdm yew.
ok, moving on. some bad news. ah ma is in hospital. she got high fever the other day and pain in her right side. so, she's been there since wednesday. doctors are doing tests and all. they hope it's not cancer or whatever life threatening thing. as much as i've been ginormously irritated by ah ma since december, i'd still don't want whatever to happen to her. so ya. pray. still don't really know what's wrong btw. *rolls eyes* what kinda quack doctors are those??! tell you, if ever anyone i know becomes a doctor and comes up with crap like that, i'll not hesitate to give them a huge smack on the face.
and...for 'commemoration' (although i don't know what's so commemorative about it), this time last year, i was hospitalised for dengue fever. yup. anyway. that's that.

updated
well, and it's been some time. nothing much as usual. i kinda forgot what i wanted to say. :p
a bit omnious these days. there's a second consecutive funeral held at my house void deck. 2 within the space of a week. is that bad luck or what? anyway, it's the season for people to get sick. and i guess, some people succumb. and well...never mind. let's move on ya?
collected my pay from forde. darn annoying i tell you. you know what? first, they spelt my name wrong on the paycheck. :p then, after we called them up to trash it out, it turns out that they short paid me. and they knew that the cheque was not the total amount. they were supposed to pay me the extra in cash. AND they never told me. *rolls eyes* sorry, they pay well, but it's too much of a hassle to work with them.
went shopping with sumi and duan hui on...thurs? i forgot which day. anyway, it wasn't really a shopping, more of a...follow duan hui around as she shops. me and sumi were looking specifically for schoolbag, which we did not find at all. :p so hard to find a good bag these days.
sat, i spent an hour walking around geylang east and macpherson estate trying to find a photocopy service. which i only found one in geylang east, costing 10 cents per piece. who they trying to cheat? of course, there was that mysterious, near the mamak shop place, that the person at 'popular' told me about, which i never found anyway. ya lah. darn. this place so many little shops and no photocopy. there used to be one i remember. but i guess it closed down. so anyway, the only other one, possibly, was at blk 27, which was like, WAY over the other side of the estate. so, in the end, came home and used the printer. waste time sia. i should open a photocopy shop around here. make good business too.
sat's choir was...not that good. started with ave verum, which that wei wei has not yet gotten back to me on. gonna nag him at choir tmr. anyway, ave verum. the basses were not bad. they managed to learn some on their own using solfege. the tenors... geez. what to say. they were the first to start learning, but the last to finish. well, technically, they haven't gotten it yet. i'm very scared that in the end, this is not the proper version we're gonna use. sigh. and choir dragged on till 10 last night. well, i guess i was a bit annoyed. but then, maybe i'm trying to do too much in too little time. so, it's not all their fault.
sunday. cantoring was ok. best for a long time. i think it's cos i'm really familiar with the psalm. shows, you should practice a lot before going there to sing. i happy with how i cantored. yay!
baby's birthday yesterday. she's now officially 2 years old! haha! had party at our house. she's so cute. running all over the place. her new best friend is linus. but linus is somehow scared of her following him all over. i didn't take photos tho. was stoning with aunty jaynus watching 'bring it on'.
today choir started at school. well, it was easy one. all the commencement songs. i have to say that i've forgotten a lot of people's names. especially those with the chinese names. i'm so sorry. paulus is back too. lol. and he's sent me on a mission to go to the matric fair and drag all our mj juniors to join choir. *rolls eyes* i didn't even manage to convince my best friend to join choir, you think i'm good enough to convince the juniors to join if they don't want to??!
anyway, ya, all for now. i think there's a lot that i wanted to talk about, thought of blogging during the week, but i forgot. so...hehe!

this song.
i attended a funeral just now. one song they sang was "i know who holds tomorrow". the first time i heard it ever, clay was singing it. and well, it was a nice song, nice melody and all. but it was only today that i realised what the song meant. somehow the context of the funeral gave that song a whole new meaning that i did not grasp when listening to the recording at home. beautiful song.
I don't know about tomorrow
I just live from day to day
I don't borrow from its sunshine
For the skies might turn to grey.
I don't worry o'er the future,
For I know what Jesus said,
And today I'll walk beside him
For he knows what is ahead.
Many things about tomorrow
I don't seem to understand
But I know who holds tomorrow
And I know who holds my hand.
Every step is getting brighter
On the golden stairs I climb.
Every burden getting lighter
Every cloud is silver lined.
Here the sun is always shining
And no tear will dim the eye
At the ending of the rainbow
Where the mountains touch the sky
Many things about tomorrow
I don't seem to understand
But I know who holds tomorrow
And I know who holds my hand.

i feel significant
i feel significant. lol. some months ago, i uploaded a few full length clay concerts for theo onto google video. and recently, someone found them and announced it to the clayboard, and the mailing list got hold of that info too and spread it round. :D although i don't think they know it's me, they credit spotlightlover (rightly since i got the original videos from her) but still...i don't feel so invisible anymore. haha!

untitled
been a while since my past post. not much happened. so...not too sure what to say. better now after falling sick. passed the flu to my bro. he's ok too now. choir meeting last night. we've got a new name. crazy sounding tho. "jubilate voce". that's gonna take some getting used to. i like the new tagline: "where there's spirit, there is song". they were so distracted last night cos of the fireworks. you'd think they never saw fireworks before. lol.
i figured out how to get stuff from youtube. haha! it's fun. now that i figured out the programme. :D
lagging behind again. i'm supposed to prepare the song lists for the next few months. but...as usual. got dis-inspired after a while.
clay aiken is going a little nuts i think. the man's too bored with his life. the album contest's answer. ATDW. wanna bet next he's gonna do another contest to guess the exact wordings? he called up the winner. lucky girl. and she thought he was a telemarketeer. i so wish i could have seen his face at that point. sigh. wish i got ofc membership.
oh ya. remembered something interesting to talk about. it seems like so long ago, but it was just tuesday. family went down to sentosa to collect the cable car tickets from the chalet that we didn't go to. and so, we da pao subway from harbourfront into sentosa to eat. geez. sentosa, even in the middle of the week, supposed off-peak season, it's still SO SO crowded. imagine what it must be like on the on-peak time. anyway, went to the chalet, checked in. the kampung hut...*shakes head* i think it's about the size of a handicapped toilet. it's really small. don't be fooled by the picture posted on the website. (there's another picture of the actual room, i'll post that when i find it.)
it's only as long as the bunk beds are and as wide as the pull out bed + bunk is. when they said 3 people, they meant 3 people. andrew could practically stretch out and touch wall from wall. that's how small the damn thing was. and...the light. there wasn't even a proper lightbulb. the crazy lightbulb was a naked bulb hanging over the door. i think the covering for it was broken or something and not replaced. it was yellow light and it couldn't light the whole room properly, small as the room is. imagine. and the air con was so noisy. geez. and the toilets looked scary. think haunted toilet look. *shudder* i'm starting to think that maybe it was a blessing in disguise to have had to cancel. we would have really suffered there. so, girls, lets save our money ya. next year, go check into a real hotel instead of being cheated with the chalet. lol.

i figured out how to get stuff from youtube. haha! it's fun. now that i figured out the programme. :D
lagging behind again. i'm supposed to prepare the song lists for the next few months. but...as usual. got dis-inspired after a while.
clay aiken is going a little nuts i think. the man's too bored with his life. the album contest's answer. ATDW. wanna bet next he's gonna do another contest to guess the exact wordings? he called up the winner. lucky girl. and she thought he was a telemarketeer. i so wish i could have seen his face at that point. sigh. wish i got ofc membership.

i hate being sick
i really really really hate being sick. ok, who likes it ya? it's been almost a year to the day when i got dengue fever. and had a scare sunday when the temp started going up again. i cannot afford to get dengue again, in more ways than one. i think it began with an unknown cause of a sore throat on saturday (thought it may be cos i was yelling at my choir all night in my dreams. it's true.) anyway, then, sunday, woke up with body aches all over. ow. dragged myself to church to fulfil my duties, although i would have very gladly stayed in bed. i'm such a responsible little ****. anyway, supposed to do grocery shopping but i decided i couldn't stand it anymore. went home. took panadol and slept.
horrible night. couldn't watch my world cup. sigh. even though i was waking up every other hour to go pee, cos of drinking too much water. a necessary evil. i was up at 2am and i saw the neighbours lights on. italy won. 5-3. geez. that is a BIG score. i expected smaller numbers.
anyway, monday. still woozy. felt ok in the morning, but temp was still up. bye bye to my chalet. with me and duan hui just recovering, there's no point going sentosa with half of us not fully charged. never mind. there's always next year. anyway, hung round at home and dosed myself with panadol. and in the evening, the temp went back to normal BUT guess what. i started sneezing like crazy. which is worse? cough, cold, or fever? i pick cold. sneeze and sneeze and the nose running like a tap. had to pull out of the meeting with dawn and khoo.
yup. much better today. like, 85% charged. thank god it's not dengue. blog more next time.

commencement performance
performed for commencement today. it was fun. ok, day started pretty badly, raining and all. went into the cfa where the ppl at the office gave me funny looks when i was collecting the key. maybe iris should offically introduce me to them. anyway, went into the dance studio and played the piano by my lonesome till kurien(?) appeared. anyway, hung around while people trickled in until 10am (half hour after we were supposed to meet). practiced. then went back over to the UCC.
at UCC, woah. all the metal detectors and all that security stuff. went backstage to get dressed, makeup. very rushed cos the ceremony began late, so we went to the dressing room late and the girls took a record 15 minutes to get ready. went back upstairs where we hung round the foyer waiting to go in.
inside the UCC, guess who was there. MM Lee, PM Lee and Tharman. cool!! no wonder all the security. and so there we were. the songs went ok. could be a whole lot better imo. huai zhi's intro about a "vibrant, free and easy student life" sparked off a lot of laughter from the audience. lol. they had the darn cameras fixed on us while we sang. and me suay suay standing immediately behind the mic, so the camera probably saw me all the time while huai zhi did his commentary. really gonna get LC to sing "to everything there is a season". i never really appreciated it's full nice-ness in mj. but i know now. :D
anyway, after the performance, we could eat free buffet, but had to wait for the ceremony to end first. so we hung around the museum talking cock and crap. that was fun. kinda like bonding session. the food was ok. edible. that kurien keep trying (and succeeding) to burst balloons that were around. scaring poor winnie and charlotte. yup. hung around some more and talked more crap. the rest of them went to kbox clementi and i came home by my lonesome. :p someday.
alrighty. all for now.

stoning
geez. today's st ant's was probably the worse case of stoning i ever had at church thus far. i was like, in a daze for most of the thing. i don't even know if i came in correctly anot. just hope so. for eg, the "holy holy". all of a sudden, suddenly realise that fr khoo was saying something about singing with angels. and so, i quickly start playing. same with the "doxology" - the eucharistic prayer suddenly seemed really short. :p this better not be becoming a habit. i'd just freak out if it happens once too often. wake up girl! time to pay more attention in church!! attendance wasn't too bad. was getting pretty scary with only me and andrew 10 minutes before the thing started. lucky, later on, the tangs came in. and marion. and then nick and verena during the mass. so...actually it's a record. lol.
nothing's much happening with the rest of my life at the moment. supposed to be doing work for the choir but i haven't been doing anything. lagging. lagging. nus choir singing for commencement on thursday. thank god, it's not only the "nus forever" song that we're doing. there's other songs too. brazil's been knocked out of the world cup. *shock* didn't expect that. now rooting for germany to win. (which to me seems likely, although i didn't follow the other matches)
in the clay world...the new album's coming up very very soon. geez i used the word "soon". sickening word. anyway, apparently, it's a 4 word title. so some suggestions me and bro came up with..."hello world! i'm back!", and "revenge of the clay". it's gonna get interesting in claynation.

youth mass
just a quick mention. yesterday was the youth mass. it went quite well i think. ppl mostly turned up on time. zac was a great cantor, despite it being his first time. colleen and the other reader very cute. can tell they were a bit nervous, esp the 2nd reader. but, it went well. "we remember" was nice. think there's still a lot of improvement to be done. wanna teach the guys their tenor and bass parts someday. lol.
and wanna recommend some books i read. "kite runner" by khaled hosseini, "the book of illusions" by paul auster and "the way the crow flies" by ann-marie mcdonald. if you got nothing better to do, go and check out these books.
all for now.

geez.
know what happened?? the agency spelled my name wrong on my paycheck. and now i can't collect my money. :p i ask you, in what crazy way can you mistake the letter "j" for the letter "y"???? i'm supposed to send the check back to them for correction but...stupid blur me forgot to ask who to address the thing to. damn. and i don't know if they cheated me or wat...cos at $6 per hour, they missed out 4 hrs. but it's correct if they pay me $5 per hour. i'm not exactly willing to call them up again. they sounded like, 'why the hell you calling me for??!' kinda attitude. *rolls eyes*
saw that singapore idol guy, jay, on youtube. singing 'solitaire' for wildcard choice. and frankly, if he was the people's choice, i shudder to think of who else got in. or rather, didn't get in. he was just ok. the chorus part was alright. the verse was hovering round bad. but i guess, it's hard for him to live up to clay's standard of the song. and i find the judges comments...uh-uh. somehow it's just not that interesting to me. sadly, i wouldn't have voted for him cos i inadvertly compare him with clay. and btw, it's so expensive to vote anyway. why would i bother?
forgot to mention that i went out for dinner the other night with feng cai and jac. feng cai is going to australia to study. leaving sometime next month. gonna miss that girl, even tho we seldom meet up. take care. god bless and i'll see you when you get back k.
moving on. what else. i watched "from hell" the other night. it wasn't as bad as i expected. i didn't get the heeby-jeebies from it. did johnny depp really die in the end?? but it was an interesting story. and i'm proud to announce that i watched it all on my own. lol. ok, not exactly on my own, i had my lappy on to distract me, just in case. but, still. irene has watched a horror film by herself. haha!
the latin mass last thursday went well. quite well. st theresa's church rocks sia. the acoustics are just so perfect for the latin mass. you can hear such wonderful echos. dad attended. there were 3 priests concelebrating. and the thingy was done almost 100% in latin. only the readings, homily, creed and half the general intentions were in english. pretty cool. one of the priests said that we did well, even though half the time the pronounciations wasn't totally accurate, but it'll do for now. francis should be proud.
alrighty. and i just realised what a stalker song "invisible" really is. lol. watch the video here that someone made. clay should have done something like that instead of that crazy jumping round the stage thing he did.
oh ya, i wanna rant a little. why that keepvid software works once then refuses to work anymore??!?!?!?!?! damn irritating seh.
